Privacy policy

Please note: this is a plain-English summary of our German privacy policy. In case of any difference, the German version at Datenschutzerklärung is the binding one.

A data protection officer is not required by law in our case (§ 38 (1) BDSG: required from 20 people upwards).

2. Hosting

This site is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, on servers in Germany. Server logs record a shortened IP address, the user agent, a timestamp, the referrer and the URL requested. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in secure operation. Retention: 7 days, then automatic deletion. A processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place.

3. Enquiry form and availability calendar

The enquiry form processes what you enter: travel dates, number of guests, dog yes or no, name, e-mail address, optionally phone number and message. It is handled on the IONOS webspace and sent to us by e-mail. Nothing is passed to third parties and no cookies are set. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR — steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract. No separate consent is required; the tick box in the form is an acknowledgement of this policy. Retention: enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted after 6 months at the latest; where a rental contract is concluded, the statutory retention periods apply.

The availability calendar is provided by Smoobu GmbH (Berlin, Germany) and is not loaded automatically. Only after you click "Load calendar" is the Smoobu script embedded, and your IP address reaches Smoobu. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, your explicit consent by clicking.

4. Bookings through Booking.com, Airbnb, Traum-Ferienwohnungen and HomeToGo

If you book through one of these platforms, we receive your booking data from them. Each platform is the controller for its own processing: Booking.com B.V. (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Airbnb Ireland UC (8 Hanover Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland), Traum-Ferienwohnungen GmbH (Hermann-Ritter-Straße 112, 28197 Bremen, Germany) and HomeToGo GmbH (Berlin, Germany). Their own privacy policies apply to that part.

5. Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics (Plausible Insights OÜ, Tartu, Estonia). Plausible sets no cookies, stores no personal data permanently and uses no device fingerprints; IP addresses are used only to build a short-lived hash and are discarded immediately. Servers are in the EU. We use the variant that also counts outbound link clicks and marked events such as enquiry buttons — again without cookies or personal profiles. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

6. Maps

The OpenStreetMap map is not loaded automatically. Only after you click "Load map" is an iframe from openstreetmap.org embedded, and your IP address is transmitted to the OpenStreetMap Foundation (Cambridge, United Kingdom), a country covered by an EU adequacy decision. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, your explicit consent. You can withdraw it at any time — see section 9.

7. Contact by e-mail, phone and WhatsApp

When you contact us we process your name, contact details and the content of your message in order to answer it. If you use WhatsApp, the privacy terms of WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) apply in addition, and data may reach Meta Platforms Inc. servers in the USA; Meta is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Using WhatsApp is entirely optional — e-mail and phone reach us just as well. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for booking enquiries, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR otherwise.

8. Registration form and tourist tax

Guests without a residence in Germany are required by law to complete a registration form on the day of arrival (§§ 29, 30 Bundesmeldegesetz). Registration forms are kept for one year and destroyed within three months thereafter (§ 30 (4) BMG). For the tourist tax, names and stay dates are passed to the town of Krakow am See and its tourist information office. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR, a legal obligation.

9. CCTV on the grounds

Security cameras are installed on the outdoor grounds. They cover the gate, the parking spaces, the terrace and the garden. Interior rooms are not covered. The cameras record only when the burglar alarm is triggered — there is no continuous recording — and while the house is occupied by guests the system is switched off. Purpose: protecting the property against burglary and damage outside occupancy. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Retention: recordings are deleted automatically after 72 hours and are reviewed only if damage has occurred. The information required by Art. 13 GDPR is set out in full in this policy.

10. Browser storage

No cookies are set on this website, neither on the content pages nor when the enquiry form is submitted. Stored in your browser, on your device only, are your consent for the calendar and the map (keys consent-smoobu and consent-openstreetmap) and your text size and contrast settings (a11y-font, a11y-kontrast). None of this reaches us or anyone else. You can withdraw your consent at any time with one click on the German Datenschutzerklärung page, section 11.

11. Your rights

You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. Write to us at info@fewo-kobe.de.

12. Right to lodge a complaint

You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example:

13. Changes

If the way we process data changes materially, we update this policy. The version published on this page is the current one; the German Datenschutzerklärung remains the binding version.
